- The Fax standard requires that the called station respond with an
- Acknowledge tone within 20 or 30 seconds (I forget the exact amount).
-
- Your faxmodem starts timing from the end of dialing string. If her
- machine takes too long to answer and her outgoing message is too long, it
- is not a surprise that GPFax is giving up.
-
- If her Answering machine/Fax combo has Silent Answer, her outgoing
- message should be silent for the first 3 seconds. If it is like some other
- machines I have seen, then the Fax Recognition portion doesn't kick in
- until after the outgoing message ends. A Toshiba Answering machine/Fax
- combo I set up recommended in the documents that the outgoing message be
- less than 15 seconds.
